President Trump says the visa scheme 'will be a very successful initiative'

US President Donald Trump has announced that he intends to introduce the 'Gold Card' visa scheme to give permanent residence to foreigners in the country.

Under the scheme, wealthy foreigners will also be able to obtain US citizenship. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Tuesday, Trump said,
"They (foreign nationals) will be richer and more successful here." They will spend a lot of money here, pay a lot of taxes and give a lot of jobs to a lot of people.

"It will be a very successful initiative," he said of his visa scheme".
The visa would be different from the US's existing 'EB-5' investment visa, which the Trump administration's commerce secretary called "fraudulent" and "meaningless"
